Taking the trial and error part of setting a brake controller is a very good thing. This video by CURT Manufacturing demos using the Trailer Brake Gain feature of the CURT BetterWeigh mobile towing scale. It lets you set up your brake controller without the need for taking multiple passes and guessing at the optimal gain setting.
In a nutshell, the CURT BetterWeigh #51701 is a Bluetooth-enabled OBD2 device that syncs with your smartphone to provide a variety of vehicle and trailer weights. This includes vehicle weight, GCW, payload, tongue weight and pin weight, as well as weight distribution setup and trailer brake gain.
